Tender and selection
BenN: knowledge about voice and data in practice

The best choice for a new communication infrastructure is preceded by a well-founded design and a smart, thorough tender. BenN consultants call for tenders several times a year. Therefore, the most up-to-date knowledge and experience is available.

To show BenN’s effective and efficient way of working, you can find several explanatory cases below:

Project 1: justify choices and designing a large IP telecommunication environment, arranging public European tenders and selecting these, based on the vision of the organisation.

Reason: the expiration of the telecom outsourcing contract, as well as the construction of new buildings and renovations;

Objective: realising an IP infrastructure with fixed/mobile integration, based on which telecom services can be offered that meet the organisation’s demands. Together with these new solutions, a cost reduction needs to be realised;

Runtime: 1 year;

BenN is responsible for:
* testing the feasibility of the vision based on business cases;
* making the functional and technical design of the telecom infrastructure (for instance VoIP and integration of fixed and mobile telephony);
* negotiating on the current outsourcing contract (as a compromise until the new infrastructure has been realised).

Result: a substantial cost reduction with regard to the outsourcing contract and a functional and technical design for the new telecom infrastructure which has been specified for a European tender. There will be a choice based on the selection criteria, after which the implementation will take place.

Project 2: the design and arrangement of a European tender for a new telephony infrastructure.

Reason: an outdated telephony infrastructure and the need for an up-to-date functionality;

Objective: realising an IP telephony infrastructure with fixed/mobile integration and Unified Communications, based on the desires and demands of the organisation and its employees;

Runtime: 1 year;

BenN is responsible for:
* drawing up an inventory of the situation at that time and the desired situation;
* writing the specifications for a European tender;
* taking care of answering questions with reference to these specifications;
* drawing up the selection criteria and the assessment factors for assessing the tenders;
* assessing the tenders and giving final advice;
* advisory activities and project management during the implementation.

Result: the client has been able to make a balanced choice for a telephony infrastructure and a supplying party. The infrastructure has been based on Voice-over-IP and the functional integration of fixed and mobile telephony. As well, the users disposed of an integrated agenda-e-mail-conferencing functionality.
